Definition

Delegation is the act of assigning stake to a validator. In proof-of-stake networks, delegated stake gives an operator economic weight in network security and governance.

Why it matters

Delegation is not only a reward decision. It is a trust decision. Delegators inherit part of the risk created by the validator’s security, uptime, upgrade discipline, and governance behavior.

Security before delegation

Before delegating, a delegator should look for operational clarity: key security, monitoring, incident response, governance reasoning, and clear communication from the operator.
